Under Canvas, in the Old Style

No safari is complete without time under canvas in the style of the old explorers. Adventure International’s private mobile-tented camps let us follow the movement of wildlife and position camp for the best game viewing. A full crew of exceptional safari staff looks after every need — a dinner laid under the stars, a piping-hot shower on return from the afternoon’s adventures. From the slopes of Mount Kenya to the plains of the Masai Mara, every element is privately arranged.

Plan Your Kenya Journey
The Journey

Nairobi to the Masai Mara

Nairobi
Day 01

Nairobi

Privately met at Jomo Kenyatta International and transferred to Palacina, a refined residence hotel. A full briefing and gear check with your guide prepares the days ahead.

Sirimon Gate to Old Moses
Day 02

Sirimon Gate to Old Moses

Transfer past banana and coffee plantations to the Sirimon gate at 2,700 m. Hike through tropical woodland — watching for monkeys, buffalo, or elephant — to Old Moses Camp at 3,200 m.

Acclimatization on the Mountain
Day 03

Acclimatization on the Mountain

Through moorland to Likki North Hut, then the steep climb to Shipton’s Camp at 4,200 m. Giant groundsels line the route; an afternoon walk to Kami Hut offers dramatic views.

Point Lenana, 4,985 m
Day 04

Point Lenana, 4,985 m

A 3 a.m. start by headlamp through scree and rock to the summit for sunrise — the defining moment of the journey. Descend to Mackinder’s Camp for breakfast, then on to the Met Station.

Down to Samburu
Day 05

Down to Samburu

Walk out through bamboo forest and transfer north to Samburu — tabletop mountains, dry acacia forest, and the colorful Samburu people. Overnight at Saruni Samburu.

A Day in Samburu
Day 06

A Day in Samburu

Riverine forest and grassland beneath the Koitogor and Olelokwe mountains. Look for the Samburu Special Five: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx, and Somali ostrich.

The Masai Mara
Day 07

The Masai Mara

Charter flight to the Mara — the ecosystem with the highest concentration of predators in Africa. Private game drives, bush meals, and, if the timing aligns, the wildebeest river crossings of the Great Migration.

Nairobi & Departure
Day 08

Nairobi & Departure

Charter flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi, a farewell lunch at the legendary Carnivore, and the transfer to international departures.

A Long-Term View

We take a long-term view — making a sustainable difference to local communities and protecting the wilderness areas on which wildlife depends. We support health, education, and micro-finance projects throughout Kenya, helped by our generous guests.
