Nepal: From Jungle to the Roof of the World

Our journey to Nepal began over coffee in our Tanzania office. We had received several requests for Everest Base Camp and Himalayan trekking, which sparked our curiosity about a region we had never explored.
Then, at a travel show in Scotland, we met our future Nepalese partner. We immediately connected over our shared commitment to ethical, sustainable and responsibly managed trekking.
Once we arrived in Nepal, we fell in love with its people, landscapes and deep sense of spirituality. We spent years hiking different routes, discovering remote monasteries and developing journeys that could offer greater comfort without losing the authenticity of the experience.
Our work eventually expanded beyond the mountains to Bardia National Park, where we helped create a safari camp within an important wildlife corridor for tigers, rhinos and elephants. Our partners also supported local anti-poaching efforts by providing water filters to the military.
Today, our Nepal experiences combine Himalayan trekking, meaningful cultural encounters and privately guided wildlife adventures.

Arrive in Kathmandu
Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, you are personally met and transferred to Dwarika's Hotel. A welcome dinner and private briefing set the stage for the journey ahead. Overnight at Dwarika's Hotel.
Kathmandu Exploration
People have dwelled in Kathmandu for nearly 1,800 years, making it one of the oldest continuously inhabited places on the planet. The city is crammed with centuries-old stupas, squares, monuments, palaces, and Buddhist and Hindu temples. Explore UNESCO World Heritage sites, the bohemian Thamel neighborhood, and Tibetan momo cuisine.
Helicopter to Bardia National Park
Board a private helicopter to Bardia National Park, the largest and most unspoiled wilderness in the Terai. Stop for a scenic picnic lunch en route to Babai River Camp, where you are greeted with tea and led to your superior tented accommodation. Enjoy the sunset fishing on the Babai River or spot the rare Brown Fish Owl near camp.
Into the Wild: Bardia Safari
Begin at dawn with a jeep drive to Nak Dara viewpoint for sunrise, spotting Marsh Mugger crocodiles and aquatic birds. Look for the Asian One-Horned Rhino at Gaida Tal. After lunch, learn about Asian elephants at Ghuti Camp, and pursue the rare and elusive Royal Bengal Tiger at Rato Matey.
Helicopter to the Khumbu: Phakding to Monjo
Helicopter from Bardia to Phakding at 8,694 ft. Enjoy lunch beside a side stream at Thado Kosi, cross suspension bridges, and trek 2-3 hours to the village of Monjo at 9,350 ft. Overnight at Everest Summit Lodge Monjo, overlooking the Dudh Koshi River beneath Thamserku Himal.
Monjo to Namche Bazaar
Wander past farmhouses through rolling terrain to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. After lunch near the river, climb the 1,800-foot ascent to Namche Bazaar at 11,300 ft — the largest Sherpa village and administrative center of the Khumbu. Overnight at Mountain Lodges of Nepal Namche.
Namche Acclimatization
Temple horns and yak bells may awaken you. A slow ascent hike to the Everest View Hotel at 12,400 ft provides breathtaking views of Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Mt. Everest. Visit the Sherpa Culture Museum, the local bazaar, bakeries, and the monastery. Saturdays bring the weekly market from 7am-9am.
Namche to Tashinga
On a clear day, Mt. Thamserku and Khangtaiga rise to your right, while Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest dominate the northern horizon. Pass the villages of Kenzuma and Sanasa, watching for Thar and Impheyan pheasants on the slopes. Arrive at Everest Summit Lodge Tashinga, nestled in pine forest off the main trail.
Tashinga to Yarin
Descend through Langsasa to cross the Dudh Koshi at Phunki Tenga. Ascend through rhododendron forest to Tengboche Monastery, once an advance base camp for early Everest expeditions. Trek off the beaten trail through birch forests to Yarin, a yak summer pasture at the edge of the Khangtaiga Valley. The first night of the VIP camping portion begins here.
Explore Khangtaiga Valley
Camping at Yarin provides access to a valley rarely visited. Being on the other side of the main trail, it has no lodges and no visitors. Follow the stream south to the edge of the Mt. Khangtaiga Glacier, or scramble up the steep hillside to a rocky summit. A perspective offered by no other trek in the region.
Explore Amadablam Valley
No peak captures the attention of trekkers like the 'Mother's Jewelry Box Mountain' — Mt. Ama Dablam. Follow the Imja River to the pastures of Lapharma before heading uphill to the base camp. This meadow below the massif gets busy in Spring, near the abandoned Mingbo airstrip.
Helicopter to Everest Base Camp & Imja Lake
Take a helicopter to Everest Base Camp at 5,364m. See the expedition tent setups and climbers on the Khumbu icefall. Continue for a surreal experience at Imja Lake, a glacial lake of stunning beauty. Return to camp by helicopter.
Scoundrel's Viewpoint & Gokyo
Helicopter to one of the most impressive vistas in the Himalayas — the beautiful glacial lakes of Gokyo. Take in the emerald waters set beneath some of the world's highest peaks. Return to Kathmandu by helicopter and overnight at Dwarika's Hotel for a farewell evening.
