Ultimate India Safari Itinerary

 

Day 1 / DELHI 
Upon arrival into Delhi International Airport you are personally met and transferred to your accommodation in New Delhi.

Overnight The Leela Palace New Delhi – Grand Deluxe Room (Bed & Breakfast)

Day 2 / DELHI
After breakfast you take a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk, which was once the grandest of markets in India. Even though today Chandni Chowk appears choked with congestion, it retains its historical character. In Chandni Chowk you will visit the Jama Masjid, the Friday congregational mosque, known as the largest and glorious mosque in India. It was the last architectural extravaganza of the Mughal Emperor; Shahjahan built in the year 1656 AD. Following lunch you will drive through Lutyen’s Delhi, Rashtrapati Bhavan, India Gate and the Old Secretariat to visit the Outub Minar, the world’s tallest brick minaret and Humayan’s Tomb which was the first garden-tomb in the Indian subcontinent and the complex was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993.

Day 3 / JABALPUR / BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK 
In the morning you will be collected and transferred to the domestic airport for a schedule flight (Kingfisher Red Airlines) at 610am to Jabalpur airport. Upon arrival at 820am you are personally met by your private vehicle and driver and you are transferred to Bandhavgarh National Park. The drive will take 4.5 hours. An essential stop on any serious tiger safari, Bandhavgarh National Park is renowned for one of India’s highest concentrations of this magnificent animal. A relatively small park with a thriving tiger population. Cradled between the picturesque Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges, Bandhavgarh boasts a breathtaking mixture of dense green valleys and rocky hills. Mixed deciduous forests and woodlands are interspersed with flat grasslands and serene waterholes.

Day 4 & 5 / BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK 
Explore the dense jungles of Bandhavgarh National Park on early morning and afternoon game drives in an open 4 x 4 safari vehicle. You are in good hands with a trained naturalist who points out fascinating animals and plants of the jungle. Your early morning drive enters the park as the dawn is breaking over the jungle. In the afternoon you have chances of seeing the elusive leopard or hearing the calls of jackals ready to hunt.

Overnight Mahua Kothi Jungle Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6 / KANHA NATIONAL PARK 
Today you experience an early morning jungle safari. Followed by an early lunch, a drive of approximately 6 hours will take you to Kanha National Park. Prime tiger wilderness, Kanha National Park was one of the first areas to be protected under Project Tiger, aimed at preserving this magnificent animal, and remains a renowned conservation area. This picturesque reserve boasts the ideal habitat for both tigers and their prey species. Lush sal and bamboo forests are interspersed with vast grassy meadows known as maidens, while the Banjaar River, which forms the park’s south-western border, provides a steady water source for the abundant wildlife. A huge population of various deer and antelope, including the extremely rare Barasingha, supports a large number of tiger, leopard, jackal and wild dog.

Day 7 & 8 / KANHA NATIONAL PARK
Explore the sal and bamboo forests of Kanha National Park on early morning and afternoon game drives in an open 4 x 4 safari vehicle. Professional guides are with you throughout while you explore the meadows or maidens where scores of grazing herbivores attract tiger, leopard and wild dog to the edges of the clearings. In the afternoon, wildlife settles down for the night or has a final drink at the Banjaar River or the many perennial streams that run through the park.

Day 9 / NAGPUR / DELHI 
After an early morning safari, followed by an early lunch, a drive approximately 6 hours will take you to Nagpur airport to catch a schedule flight (Indigo Airlines) at 835pm to Delhi. Upon arrival at 1010pm you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Overnight Trident, Gurgaon – Superior Room (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 10 / DEPART 
Today you are transferred to the Delhi International Airport for onward departures.
